You can be born with moles or they can form over time up to the age of about 40. Exposure to the sun over the years can also cause moles to form. Moles are dark spots or an irregularity in the skin that are normally harmless, although some can be cancerous. This type usually start out as a normal looking mole, but they change in size and shape and may even itch and bleed. If this happens, you should see a doctor who will probably remove the mole and biopsy it to check for cancer.
Some moles may be in a place, like the face, where it may affect your appearance. Many people consider having these removed to enhance their appearance. Men often have facial moles removed because they may nick it when they shave. Women can have the same issue with moles on their legs. There are a variety of reasons to remove moles either by your doctor or even by using home remedies.
Ways Your Doctor Can Remove Moles
The two most common ways that your doctor will remove moles begin by cutting the mole off to the deepest point that from which it grows.
- Excision with Stitches – This procedure is commonly used with the irregularly shaped moles that could be cancerous or moles that are even with the skin. After they are removed, the area is stitched up.
- Excision with Cauterization – This method to remove moles involves burning away the mole. The wound is burned closed so stitches aren’t required and the wound heals on its own.
Doctors can also remove moles using a laser, requiring no cutting or stitches.

Moles appear on areas of the body such as the face, neck, arms, and legs as small dark spots.Medically, moles are called nevus and these clusters of pigment can be evident since birth or develop later in life. Research has shown that exposure to sunlight promotes the development of moles. When a mole appears on a person’s face, it can be considered a beauty mark.
Are they dangerous?
Moles for the most part are harmless, although some individuals do experience skin irritation surrounding moles if they are large enough. Some individuals also believe that moles are pre-cancerous. Still other people simply don’t like the appearance of moles or where they are located on their body and want to remove them without the expense or scarring that takes place when they are removed surgically.
Surgical removal of moles involves either burning or cutting away the mole, both of which have the risk of leaving the skin scarred. There is also the added risk of infection, in addition to the time and expense of opting for surgery as a mole removal method. If a mole has not changed in color or size and is not bleeding, there is no reason to visit a dermatologist for its removal.
Natural treatments you can try at home.

Unless there in a inconvenient or unattractive place moles are usually harmless and will not cause discomfort. Exceptions to this include moles that change color, size, or are sensitive to touch. These can indicate other conditions, and it is advised that you seek medical attention as soon as possible should these occur.
You don’t have to take a visit to the doctor.
However, normal moles that have been around for a few years can be easily removed. Contrary to popular belief, it is generally not necessary to visit a doctor to have moles removed. There are a few home remedies that can be attempted before turning to expensive, painful surgery.
First, it is important to mention that there are a few home remedies out there that should not be attempted. One of these methods is simply cutting the mole off with a knife or scissors. Not only is this extremely painful, but it causes a lot of bleeding, and you are guaranteed a scar using this method. Another includes burning the mole with a lighter or some other hot object. Odds are pretty good that you will just end up with a burned mole that is very sensitive to touch and probably even more obvious. Most home remedies that include violence of any kind should be taken under careful consideration before attempted.
All natural treatments for mole removal.
There are many natural home remedies that are available for purchase over the counter. Most of these are balms that are applied on a regular basis until the moles either disappear or scab over. They are available from just about anywhere from department stores to drug stores, and are generally fairly reasonable in price. If you try to avoid chemicals, be sure to check the ingredients, because one person’s “natural” is not always the same as another’s.

Many people have reported success mixing ground flaxseed mixed with a bit of pure honey and flaxseed oil. Others have used pineapple juice on their moles. Be careful with this, though, since pineapple juice is highly acidic, and some people’s skin does not do well with continuous exposure to it. Some even use crushed fresh garlic. All of these methods generally come with the suggestion to apply a band-aid to the area after the proposed cure has been applied.
